College Loan News: Momentum Gaining for Student Loan Relief?

With stories spreading of many college students struggling with astronomical student loan balances, we are beginning to see more articles on the possibility of college loan reform. Recently the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Commission on Consumer Bankruptcy released a report which included recommendations on improving the consumer bankruptcy system by making some student loans dischargeable in a bankruptcy case. As the 2020 presidential election nears, candidates also appear to be talking about college debt more than candidates in previous elections. Below is a recent article on student loan forgiveness. https://www.npr.org/2019/07/10/738506646/student-debt-forgiveness-sounds-good-what-might-happen-if-the-government-did-it

Supreme Court update …

Fighting for the underdog …

We are waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to decide whether it will hear my client’s case. The Court held its conference to discuss our case on Monday. So far, no news on whether the Court will accept review, but by the same token, the Court has not denied review.
